Seachtain an Chairdis

Seachtain an Chairdis 2016

Bhí Seachtain an Chairdis ar siúl i nGaelscoil Bheanntraí idir an 12ú- 16ú Meán Fómhair 2016. Le linn na seachtaine bhí roinnt mhaith imeachtaí ar siúl i ngach rang; ó Naíonáin Bheaga go dtí Rang 6. Bhí lá na pitseámaí ar an Aoine agus thaitin sé go mór leis na paistí (agus múinteoir nó dhó a thóg an deis) teacht ar scoil ag caitheamh na pitseámaí! Ar an gCéadaoin 21ú, tháinig  chugainn ó Bully4u chun caint leis na páistí faoi bulaíocht agus an tionchar a bhíonn ar bhulaíocht ar dhaoine i rith an tsaoil. Chuir an bheirt fhear ceardlann bulaíochta ar fáil do thuismitheoirí agus múinteoirí tar éis scoile ar an lá agus ba mhór an fiúntas a bhí ag baint leis. Míle buíochas leo as teacht agus as do na tuismitheoirí a thug suas an t-am chun teacht.

During the week 12th– 16th September, we celebrated friendship week in Gaelscoil Bheanntraí. During the week, there were many activities in each class from Junior Infants to 6th Class. We finished the week on Friday 16th with a pyjama day which the children (and one or two of the teachers!) thoroughly enjoyed! On Wednesday 21st, — from Bully4u came to the school to talk to the children about bullying and the effects of bullying on those involved.  In addition to this, there was a very worthwhile anti-bullying workshop held for parents and teachers after school. We would like to extend our thanks to the Bully4u team who visited our school and to the parents who gave up their time to attend.

Seo samplaí do na gníomhaí a bhí ar siúl sna ranganna.  Some samples of activities undertaken by each class.

Naíonáin Bheaga: I rith Seachtain an Chairdis bhí na páistí ag caint agus ag plé faoi na tréithe a bhaineann le chairdeas. Ghlacadar páirt in am ciorclach agus roinneadar am in a bhraitheadar sásta lena chéile. D’imir na páistí cluichí sa pháirc pheile leis an gcuid eile den scoil. Bhaineadar an-taitneamh as agus bhíodar in ann níos mó aithne a chur ar a chéile chomh maith.

During Friendship Week the children spoke about the characteristics of a friendship. They took part in circle time and shared a time where they felt happy with each other. They played some games in the football pitch with the rest of the school. They thoroughly enjoyed it and it was a great way to get to know each other that little bit better.

Naíonáin Mhóra Bhí am deas ag na leanaí ó Naíonáin Mhóra i rith seachtain an Chairdis. Bhaineadar an-taitneamh as na gníomhaí go léir a bhí ar siúl acu agus an scoil. Labhramar faoi ár chairde agus conas a bheith cairdiúil lena chéile sa bhaile agus ar scoil. Bhaineadar sult as na cluichí co – oibriú a bhí acu sa pháirc. Dheineadar lámha chairdeas álainn sa rang chomh maith.

Senior Infants had a really enjoyable time during Friendship week. They enjoyed all of the lovely activities that they did with the class and the school. We spoke about friendship and how to be friendly to others at home and in school. The children enjoyed the co-operative games that took place in the pitch very much. They had a great time designing and making their friendship hands to display in the classroom.

Rang 1: Bhain Rang 1 taitneamh as Seachtain an Chairdis le déanaí. Labharamar faoi conas  a bheith mar chara deas agus conas a bheith cneasta le daoine eile. Tharraing na páistí pictiúrí álainn dóibh féin ag imirt lena gcairde. Bhain siad ana thaitneamh as na cluichí a bhí eagraithe go háirithe Rás na trí chos!!! D’fhéachadar go hálainn ins na pitseaimí ar an Aoine chun críoch a chur le seachtain iontach.

Rang 1 really enjoyed Friendship week which took place recently in the school. They discussed in detail what makes a good friend and they came up with some great ideas. They drew fantastic pictures of themselves playing with their friends and designed ‘Friendship Hands’ which can be seen in the reception area inside the main door. Rang 1 really enjoyed the activities of our Sports Day especially the three legged race! They all looked lovely dressed in their pyjamas on Friday, a perfect way to finish off a great week.

Rang 2: Mar chuid dá n-imeachtaí do Sheachtain Chairdis, bhí comhrá ag Rang 2 mar gheall ar cad is brí le cairde maithe agus dhein said Lámh Chairdis. D’ainmnigh said tréithe a bhaineann le cairde maithe. Ghearr said samhail dá lámha amach agus scríobh páistí difriúla na tréithe seo ar na méara agus na hordóga. Thaitin an ceacht go mór leis na páistí.

As part of events for Friendship Week, Rang 2 took part in a class which examined what good friendships consist of and then they made Friendship Hands. Firstly the class spoke about the characteristics of good friendships. They cut out and decorated hand drawings and different children wrote these characteristics on the fingers and thumbs. The children enjoyed the class.

Rang 3: I Rang a Trí, phléamar cairdeas agus na rudaí a dhéanann cairdeas maith. Scríobhamar “oideas cairdis” ag smaoineamh ar liosta comhábhar (grá, tuiscint, foighne, spraoi mar shampla); na rudaí tábhachtacha a dhéanann cairdeas mhaith. Chun an cairdeas a chothú; measc le chéile na comhábhair; féach orthu go minic, réitigh nuair is gá agus beidh cairdeas agat go deo! Chomh maith le sin, ghearr na páistí amach croí; scríobh siad a n-ainm sa lár agus

scríobh gach páiste sa rang rud deas fuathú. Bhí na páistí ar bís ag léamh na rudaí deasa a bhí scríofa fuathú agus d’ardaigh an féin mhuinín go mór!

We discussed friendship and the different elements of a good friendship. We wrote our own recipe for a good friendship, thinking of the important ingredients that go into creating and maintaining friendships (for example; love, understanding, patience and fun). To nurture the friendship, you need to mix the ingredients together, tend to it regularly and mend when necessary. Also, we cut out hearts, each child wrote their name in the centre of their heart and passed it around the class. Everyone wrote a nice comment on each heart and when we were finished, every child read their paper heart full of compliments. It was a lovely activity to raise self-esteem and to build confidence.

Rang 4

Chrochamar iad ar chrann an chairdis sa bhfáiltiú.

4th class spoke in class about friendship-the traits of a good friend, how friends help each other etc.  Each child wrote a poem about friendship.  Also we drew around our hands – cut them out and everyone in the class wrote positive comments on each finger about their friend.  We hung these on the friendship tree in the reception area.

Rang 5 & 6: Sa rang phléigh Rang a 5 is a 6 Cairdeas – cad a dheineann cara maith/cad nach ndeineann cara maith? Labhramar faoi seanfhocail ag baint le cairdeas:

Ní neart go cur le chéile. (There is strength in numbers.)

Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine.  (We rely on each other.)

Giorraíonn beirt bóthar.  (The road seems shorter when you have company.)

Cíonn beirt rud nach gcíonn duine amháin.  (Two heads are better than one.)

Scríobhamar dán le chéile faoi chairdeas agus dheineamar póstaeir le chéile i ngrúpaí.

Rang a 5 and Rang a 6 discussed friendship in class – what it means to be a good friend, the traits of a good friend as well as what friends don’t do.  We spoke about Irish proverbs regarding friendship which you can read above.  We wrote a poem together about friendship and then made posters in friendship groups.

Cairde Clóis

Bhí Ranganna a 5 is a 6 i gceannas ar Chairde Clóis a eagrú ar bhonn uile scoile.  Ar an nDéardaoin don Seachtain Chairdis, d’eagraigh siad stáisiúin sa chlós agus d’imir siad cluichí éagsúla le na ranganna ar fad.  Imríodh sacar, cispheil, scipeáil, Dealbha, Deir Ó Grádaigh, Cé atá sa Tóir?, Cén t-am é a Mhactíre agus Lacha, Lacha, Cearc.  Dhein siad jab iontach agus molaimid iad go hard na spéire don fhreagracht agus don dea-thoil a thaispeánadar.  Go raibh mile maith agaibh Rang a 5 is Rang a 6!

Rang a 5 agus Rang a 6 were responsible for implementing ‘Playground Pals’ as part of the Friendship Week celebrations.  They set up stations in the playground for each class and gave up one entire play session to supervise games at each station.  The children played soccer, basketball, skipping, Statues, Simon Says, chasing games, What time is it Mr. Wolf? and Duck, Duck, Goose.  The feedback from the children and teachers was very positive.  A huge thank you to Rang a 5 is Rang a 6.  We were really impressed by the responsibility and goodwill they showed.
